JUDGE JON MYERS
ABOUT JON

I am a life-long resident of Lexington and my roots in this District run deep. I grew up knowing the value of hard work. Many people knew my father, Druid, as the owner of Myers Appliance Company which was located on North Main Street in Lexington. Every day I saw him work steadily and diligently without complaint or fanfare. I applied that work ethic to my law practice and will maintain that same work ethic on the bench.

I majored in political science at Wake Forest University, graduating in 1988 with honors and on the dean’s list. I remained at Wake Forest where I enrolled in a joint degree program, earning both a law degree and a Masters of Business Administration.

JUSTICE FOR ALL

Through my Christian faith I recognize that all people are created by God and worthy of respect. During my time on the bench I have relied on my faith and experience to ensure that individuals who enter my courtroom are treated with respect, dignity, and equality under law.  I will continue to treat everyone with respect and dignity, regardless of what brings them to the courthouse.

It is a judge’s duty to ensure the fair and equal application of justice by enforcing the laws as written. My years of legal practice provide a solid foundation to reach the best decision under law. I will take the time to understand the issues facing those in my courtroom and render a just verdict.

I ask for your help to uphold these fundamental values through your vote for me as District Court Judge.
IN THE COMMUNITY
LIFE EXPERIENCE
PROFESSIONAL

After graduating from law school in 1992, I returned to my home town and opened a solo law practice in Lexington.  Over the course of my career I appeared in many different courts gaining experience in a wide variety of legal areas.  In addition to my regular practice, for the last 5 years I served as the attorney for the Guardian ad Litem program representing the children of Davidson and Davie Counties removed from their homes by Social Services in situations of abuse, neglect, and dependency.

After nearly three decades in private practice I saw an opportunity to serve our community in a new capacity - as a judge.  After being recommended for the position by the District 33 Bar Association and appointed by Governor Cooper in May of 2021, I began work as a District Court Judge on June 18, 2021- applying the skills that I learned from my years of practice to my role on the bench.

BOARD OF ELECTIONS

I was appointed to the Davidson County Board of Elections in 2007 where I served until taking the bench in June 2021.  Having the responsibility of conducting local elections, operate voting sites, and handling the administrative side of elections provided a true appreciation of our democratic process.  Without a doubt, participating in elections is one of the key freedoms of American life.

During my 14 years on the Board of Elections I worked hard to ensure that Davidson County had fair and honest elections.  As an elected judicial official I will work just as hard to ensure fair and impartial courtrooms.

MY FAMILY

My family and I are deeply invested in our community. I currently serve as secretary on the board of Davidson Medical Ministries. My wife of 24 years, Eryn, my two children (ages 19 and 10), and I attend First Baptist Church in Lexington. At First Baptist I became an ordained Deacon and have served in various capacities over the years. Most significantly Eryn and I lead the youth program. We thoroughly enjoy, and appreciate, our middle and high school youth. In addition to working with youth at First Baptist, I have coached my son’s baseball teams and been involved with the Boy Scouts of America.

Outside of work I enjoy playing trumpet which I began in 6th grade. While at Wake Forest I played trumpet in the football marching band, basketball pep band, concert band, and brass quintet. I continue to play today in various church services.
Through your vote for me as District Court Judge, you can help to uphold our fundamental values.
